Ernst Barlach concentrated in small faces of wood and stone, he made in the late 1920s and 1930s, all the sadness and despair of this dark period in recent German history. The Nazis banned his work and did not let him show his sculptures. He died in 1938. You don’t need to harm somebody physically to kill him. Stepping out of this exhibition made me feel in the beautifully restored city of Münster with all the colorful modern shops and cafés like in a science fiction movie.
